Although it is important to me to capture a physical likeness to the animal or person I am painting, it is also as important for me to reflect the aura or soul of the individual.

I often do this through colour, sometimes in a subtle way like within oils, but also sometimes in quite a dramatic fluorescent way, using bold shadow and sherbet colours to reflect the vibrancy of what I see within. Whilst most of my portraits to date have used a collection of different paints, I hope to also produce more work using a fuller range of mixed media and light relief.
